A Special Needs Story
We were picked up at the airport in San Antonio, Texas—a beautiful city, well-manicured, with a lot of open spaces—and we headed to our hotel for our two-night stay. The couple that was driving us up was so gracious and obviously blessed by God with a happy marriage of over four decades. As we drove, we asked about their family and in the process, they told us of their special-needs son, Nathan, who was born with a rare syndrome, Rubenstein Taybi. The symptoms of this syndrome range along a spectrum. Precious Nathan is speech deprived and his facial features tell the story as well. He feels pain in a very restricted way but can’t speak of it.
