engage

Dear Readers,

Finally!

I key in this editorial with mixed emotions! I’m elated that we are breaking new ground in venturing into the digital space, where Engage would be an e-magazine henceforth. The benefits of which are obvious and numerous. We are particularly excited that we would be able to reach and equip the tech savvy audience in this space. We are glad that the electronic format would give subscribers the scope for sharing it with a seeker or a sceptic friend a particular piece or para or quote from the content as they see appropriate. In this age of multi-media, it would be a loss, for us not to tap these avenues to our advantage. We are also excited that this would increase our reach exponentially, as the content and the efforts rightly deserve. We are excited that making it available free of cost would enhance its reach to even students and others who would otherwise hesitate to subscribe to it. Through all this, our chief objective is that quality Christian content should saturate the web space and be an accessible alternative to those who are asking questions and seeking answers.

On the other hand, my heart is heavy that this would be our last print edition. I’m not a geeky guy. I still have archaic tastes, perhaps. I love to touch and feel books, smell them too. The texture of the paper, the smell of the print, the pictures, the corner-folds, the markings, the scrawls – still excite me (at the risk of sounding uncultured). My Kindle, doesn’t like me one bit, I neglect her, as I’m head over heels with my hard copies. Books are books, aren’t they? E-books are no books, are they? In this battle of generations, technologies and tastes – we err on the side of purpose. We desire to see our content reach, and reach it must! So painfully we leave behind the print and purposefully move towards the cyberspace, hoping that the Lord will bless this new chapter of our journey. We request your continued patronage as we make this much needed transition.

We are delighted to treat you again to an interesting line-up of writers both national and international – philosophers, apologists, scientist, journalist and marketplace influencers. Our desire is that each of their style, content and intent will strike a chord with our diverse readers and bless and equip them in their walk and talk about the love of God. In our effort to keep the content fresh and creative, we have included a new Q & A feature, which we hope you would enjoy and benefit from. Do check out our “Resource Watch” feature too, with some great recommendations there for you.

As always, share and encourage subscription among those who will find Engage resourceful. And that just got a lot easier with the e-zine that is to hit the digital space in January 2019! We so need your prayers here.

God bless!

Warmly,

Charles P Joseph
